GUIDELINES IN SUSTAINABLE LODGING MAINTENANCE AND ENVIRONMENT CONSERVATION OF PHALAD TEMPLE, SUTHEP SUB-DISTRICT, MUANG DISTRICT, CHIANG MAI PROVINCE

Abstract

This research was a qualitative research. The objectives aim: 1) to study the background, concept, practice of building the temple and environmental conservation. 2) to study utilization of temple and conservation of environment in Buddhism and 3) to seek guidelines to sustainably maintain the temple and conserve the environment of Phalad temple, Suthep sub-district, Mueang district, Chiang Mai province. The research instrument was in-dept interview and collected the data by interviewing specific sample by purposive sampling of 9 peoples with expertise about the establishment of Phalad temple. Data were analyzed by content analysis, categorizing data, and reporting its results by providing examples and description. Its results were found that the construction of Phalad Temple appeared in the Phra Chao Liap Lok of Lanna scriptures. There is evidence of the memories and stories passed down from generations to generations by the Lua peoples. About the importance of the area around Phalad temple both in the form of traditions, culture, local ethnic groups and has passed on that knowledge and belief to the present.

For utilization purposes, the area is divided into three zones as follows: In Zone 1, the area is set for welcome the general publics interested in Buddhism and performance various activities. In Zone 2, Ancient sites are kept as the Sangha Vassa areas. There were a peaceful and simple place where monks and novices reside and perform Buddhist ceremonies. In Zone 3, there were the uses of the surrounding areas of the temple for public benefits and as learning center about natural resources, wildlife, insects, plant species, as well as arts and culture.

Guidelines for lodging maintaining of Phalad temple consist of religious rituals, historical learning, religious archaeology studies, cultural tourism. In part of guidelines for environmental conservation were including: soil, water and forest conservation. In the part of environmental management, it was setting the master plan for maintaining the area of Phalad temple in 4 elements: clean, elegant, quiet and simple.

การศึกษาวิจัยครั้งนี้เป็นงานวิจัยเชิงคุณภาพ โดยมีวัตถุประสงค์ในเพื่อศึกษาได้แก่ 1) เพื่อศึกษาภูมิหลังแนวคิด แนวปฏิบัติการสร้างเสนาสนะ และการอนุรักษ์สิ่งแวดล้อม 2) เพื่อศึกษาการใช้ประโยชน์จากเสนาสนะ และการอนุรักษ์สิ่งแวดล้อมในทางพระพุทธศาสนา และ 3) เพื่อแสวงหาแนวทางในการทำนุบำรุงเสนาสนะและการอนุรักษ์สิ่งแวดล้อมอย่างยั่งยืนของวัดผาลาด ตำบลสุเทพ อำเภอเมือง จังหวัดเชียงใหม่ เครื่องมือที่ใช้ในการวิจัยคือ แบบสัมภาษณ์เชิงลึก เก็บข้อมูลโดยการสัมภาษณ์เชิงลึกกับกลุ่มตัวอย่างแบบเจาะจงผู้มีความรู้เกี่ยวกับการก่อตั้งวัดผาลาด จำนวน 9 รูป/คน วิเคราะห์ข้อมูลจากการสังเคราะห์เนื้อหา จัดหมวดหมู่ และ รายงานผลการวิจัยโดยการบรรยายประกอบการยกตัวอย่าง ผลการวิจัยพบว่า การสร้างวัดผาลาดได้ปรากฎในคัมภีร์พระเจ้าเลียบโลกของล้านนา มีหลักฐานการจารึกและเล่าสืบต่อกันมาของชาวลัวะ ถึงความสำคัญของพื้นที่บริเวณวัดผาลาด ทั้งในรูปแบบของประเพณี วัฒนธรรม กลุ่มชนพื้นถิ่น และได้สืบทอดความรู้ความเชื่อนั้นมาถึงปัจจุบัน ในการใช้ประโยชน์ในพื้นที่ ประกอบด้วย โซนที่ 1 คือ เสนาสนะส่วนที่ต้อนรับบุคคลทั่วไปที่สนใจในพระพุทธศาสนา และทำกิจกรรมต่าง ๆ โซนที่ 2 คือ โบราณสถานที่เป็นเขตสังฆาวาส ซึ่งเป็นสถานที่สงบและเรียบง่าย เป็นที่อยู่ของพระภิกษุสงฆ์ สามเณร ใช้ประกอบพิธีกรรมในทางพระพุทธศาสนา และโซนที่ 3 คือการใช้สถานที่โดยรอบของวัดเพื่อสาธารณประโยชน์ และเป็นแหล่งเรียนรู้ทางทรัพยากรธรรมชาติ สัตว์ป่า แมลง พันธุ์พืช รวมถึงศิลปะและวัฒนธรรม แนวทางในการทำนุบำรุงเสนาสนะของวัดผาลาด ประกอบด้วย ด้านพิธีกรรมทางศาสนา ด้านแหล่งเรียนรู้ทางประวัติศาสตร์ การศึกษาทางโบราณคดีทางศาสนา การท่องเที่ยวเชิงวัฒนธรรม ในส่วนแนวทางด้านการอนุรักษ์สิ่งแวดล้อม ประกอบด้วย ด้านการอนุรักษ์ดิน ด้านการอนุรักษ์น้ำ ด้านการอนุรักษ์ป่า และด้านการจัดการสิ่งแวดล้อม โดยกำหนดแผนแม่บทในการจัดการดูแลรักษาพื้นที่ภายในเขตของวัดผาลาดใน 4 องค์ประกอบ ได้แก่ สะอาดตา สง่างาม สงบเงียบ และเรียบง่าย
