FARMER'S NEED OF CULTIVATION EXTENSION OF AVOCADO IN PANG HIN FON SUBDISTRICT, MAE CHAEM DISTRICT, CHIANG MAI PROVINCE

Abstract

This study was conducted to investigate: 1) socio-economic attributes of farmers growing avocado; 2) Knowledge about avocado growing of the farmers; 3) needs for the promotion of avocado growing of the farmers; 4) factors effecting the needs of the farmers; 5) problems encountered and suggestions. The sample group consisted of 226 avocado farmers in Pang Hin Fon sub-district, Mae Chaem district, Chiang Mai province obtained by two-stage sampling. A set of questionnaires was used for data collection and analyzed by using descriptive statistics, multiple regression and enter.

Results of the study revealed that most of the respondents were male, 45 years old on average, marred, elementary school graduates and below and they had 4 household members on average. The respondents had 2 household workforce, 15.20 rai of land holding and 115,139 baht of a household annual income. They contacted concerned personnel twice a years on average about disease and pest management. The respondents perceived reais or information about the promotion of avocado growing from personnel of the public sector most. Most of them had a high level of needs for the promotion of avocado growing (x̄=4.07). The areas with the highest mean level of need for promotion were area preparation and breeding (x̄=4.26), planting and care (x̄=4.24). This was followed by harvest/post.Harvest management (x̄=4.22) and processing/marketing (x̄=3.54). Most of the respondents had a moderate level of knowledge about avocado growing. For factors effecting needs for the promotion of avocado growing of the respondents, there was a positive relationship between the needs and age (P=0.001) knowledge about avocado growing(P=0.005) with a statistical significance level. In contrast, them was positive relationship between the needs and a number of household Workforce (P=0.015) with a statistical significance level.

For problems encountered, water shortage, pests, outbreak of disease and lack of knowledge about avocado growing/maintenance were found. The following should be done: development of water sources for farming, knowledge support and promotion of avocado prediction technology.

การวิจัยนี้ มีวัตถุประสงค์ 1) เพื่อศึกษาลักษณะพื้นฐานส่วนบุคคล เศรษฐกิจ และสังคม 2) เพื่อศึกษาความรู้ในการปลูกอาโวคาโดของเกษตรกร 3) เพื่อศึกษาความต้องการในการส่งเสริมการปลูกอาโวคาโดของเกษตรกร 4) เพื่อศึกษาปัจจัยที่มีผลต่อความต้องการในการส่งเสริมการปลูกอาโวคาโดของเกษตรกร 5) เพื่อศึกษาปัญหา อุปสรรคและข้อเสนอแนะในการส่งเสริมการปลูกอาโวคาโดของเกษตรกรในพื้นที่ตำบลปางหินฝน อำเภอแม่แจ่ม จังหวัดเชียงใหม่ กลุ่มตัวอย่างที่ใช้ในการศึกษาวิจัยคือ เกษตรกรที่อยู่ในพื้นที่ตำบลปางหินฝน อำเภอแม่แจ่ม จังหวัดเชียงใหม่ จำนวน 226 คน ซึ่งได้จากการสุ่มตัวอย่างแบบสองขั้นตอน (Two-stage sampling) เก็บรวบรวมข้อมูลโดยใช้แบบสอบถามสถิติที่ใช้ในการวิเคราะห์ข้อมูล ได้แก่ สถิติพรรณนา การวิเคราะห์ถดถอยพหุ แบบคัดเลือกเข้า (Enter)

ผลการวิจัยพบว่า เกษตรกรส่วนใหญ่เป็นเพศชาย มีอายุเฉลี่ย 45 ปี ส่วนใหญ่มีสถานภาพสมรส จบการศึกษาในระดับประถมศึกษาหรือต่ำกว่า มีสมาชิกในครัวเรือนเฉลี่ย 4 คน มีแรงงานในครัวเรือนเฉลี่ย 2 คน มีรายได้ในครัวเรือนเฉลี่ย 115,139 บาทต่อปี มีพื้นที่ถือครองในครัวเรือนเฉลี่ย 15.20 ไร่ มีการติดต่อกับเจ้าหน้าที่หรือผู้ให้ความรู้ทางการเกษตรเฉลี่ย 2 ครั้ง โดยติดต่อในเรื่องการจัดการโรคและศัตรูของพืช มีการรับรู้ข่าวสารที่เกี่ยวกับการส่งเสริมการปลูกอาโวคาโด รับรู้ข่าวสารมาจากเจ้าหน้าที่ภาครัฐมากที่สุด ส่วนใหญ่มีความต้องการในการส่งเสริมปลูกอาโวคาโดอยู่ในระดับความต้องการการส่งเสริมมาก (ค่าเฉลี่ย 4.07) โดยด้านที่มีค่าเฉลี่ยระดับความต้องการการส่งเสริมมากที่สุด ได้แก่ ด้านการเตรียมพื้นที่และการเตรียมพันธุ์ (ค่าเฉลี่ย 4.26) ด้านการปลูกและการดูแลรักษา (ค่าเฉลี่ย 4.24) ด้านการเก็บเกี่ยวและการจัดการหลังการเก็บเกี่ยว (ค่าเฉลี่ย 4.22) และด้านการตลาดและการแปรรูป (ค่าเฉลี่ย 3.54) ตามลำดับ เกษตรกรส่วนใหญ่ในพื้นที่ตำบลปางหินฝน อำเภอแม่แจ่ม จังหวัดเชียงใหม่ มีความรู้เกี่ยวกับปลูกอาโวคาโดอยู่ในระดับความรู้ปานกลาง สำหรับปัจจัยที่มีผลต่อความต้องการในการส่งเสริมปลูกอาโวคาโดของเกษตรกรในพื้นที่ตำบลปางหินฝน อำเภอแม่แจ่ม จังหวัดเชียงใหม่ ได้แก่ อายุ (P = 0.001) และความรู้การปลูกอาโวคาโด (P = 0.005) มีความสัมพันธ์เชิงบวกกับความต้องการในการส่งเสริมการปลูกอาโวคาโดอย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติ ในทางกลับกัน จำนวนแรงงานในครัวเรือน (P = 0.015) มีความสัมพันธ์เชิงลบกับความต้องการในการส่งเสริมการปลูกอาโวคาโดอย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติ ทั้งนี้เกษตรกรมีปัญหาหลักในด้านการปลูกและการดูแลรักษา โดยการขาดแคลนน้ำเพื่อทำการเกษตรในฤดูแล้ง ขาดองค์ความรู้เกี่ยวกับการปลูกและการดูแลรักษา และการระบาดของโรคและแมลงศัตรูพืช และมีข้อเสนอแนะ โดยภาครัฐคือ ควรมีการพัฒนาแหล่งน้ำเพื่อการเกษตร สนับสนุนองค์ความรู้ นวัตกรรม และเทคโนโลยีเพื่อการผลิตอาโวคาโด
