STUDY ON SUCCESS IN GROWING ORGANIC VEGETABLES OF THE THONG MANG ORGANIC AGRICULTURAL COOPERATIVE AT XAYTHANY DISTRICT, VIENTIANE CAPITAL, LAO PEOPLE'S DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC

Abstract

This study was conducted to investigate: 1) the organic farming process and operation of farmers under the Thang Mang organic farming cooperative group; 2) the successful organic vegetable growing of the farmers; and 3) suggestions about organic farming of the farmers. The population of this study consisted of two groups: 44 organic vegetable growers and 2 people promoting organic farming (1 farmer group head and 1 concerned government personnel). Obtained by purposive sampling. In-depth interview and questionnaires were used for data collection and analyzed by using content analysis.

Results of the study revealed that, at the initial stage, the farmers learnt about organic farming standards and principles. Besides, there was a meeting related to operational consistency with topographic conditions and yield monitoring under organic farming standards. The success of organic vegetable growing of the farmers was due to the following components: 1) economic benefits; 2) organic farming knowledge; 3) news/information perception; 4) farmers’ attitudes; 5) readiness for organic farming; and 6) organic farming process of the farmers. It was found that successful operations of the group from additional elements of leaders and supporting government agencies, including: leadership of the group committee, group forming, group management, readiness for organic farming and support of concerned public and private agencies. Financial support should be encouraged beneficial to training on plant disease and pest prevention, production planning, marketing, processing and use of new technology for the development of organic vegetable production.

การวิจัยครั้งนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษา 1) การดำเนินงาน และกระบวนการทำเกษตรอินทรีย์ของเกษตรกรกลุ่มสหกรณ์เกษตรอินทรีย์ท่งมั่ง 2) ความสำเร็จในการปลูกผักอินทรีย์ของเกษตรกรกลุ่มสหกรณ์เกษตรอินทรีย์ท่งมั่ง 3) ข้อเสนอแนะเกี่ยวกับการทำเกษตรอินทรีย์ของเกษตรกรกลุ่มสหกรณ์เกษตรอินทรีย์ท่งมั่ง อำเภอไชทานี นครหลวงเวียงจันทน์ สาธารณรัฐประชาธิปไตยประชาชนลาว เป็นการศึกษาเชิงคุณภาพ ได้แบ่งประชากรในการศึกษาออกเป็น 2 กลุ่ม คือ กลุ่มที่ 1 ประชากรผู้ปลูกผักอินทรีย์อันเป็นสมาชิกกลุ่มสหกรณ์เกษตรอินทรีย์ท่งมั่ง จำนวน 44 คน และกลุ่มที่ 2 กลุ่มตัวอย่างผู้ที่ส่งเสริมการทำเกษตรอินทรีย์ของกลุ่ม จำนวน 2 คน ได้แก่ หัวหน้ากลุ่มเกษตร 1 คน และเจ้าหน้าที่รัฐที่เกี่ยวข้อง จำนวน 1 คน รวมทั้งสิ้น 46 คน คัดเลือกด้วยวิธีเจาะจง ใช้แบบสัมภาษณ์เชิงลึกในการเก็บรวบรวมข้อมูล และใช้วิธีการวิเคราะห์เนื้อหา

ผลการวิจัย พบว่า วิธีการดำเนินงานและกระบวนการทำเกษตรอินทรีย์ ช่วงเริ่มต้นมีการเรียนรู้หลักการและมาตรฐานของเกษตรอินทรีย์ มีการประชุมกลุ่มร่วมกันเพื่อให้การดำเนินงานสอดคล้องกับสภาพของพื้นที่ มีการตรวจสอบเพื่อให้ผลผลิตมีคุณภาพตามมาตรฐานเกษตรอินทรีย์ ความสำเร็จในการปลูกผักอินทรีย์ของเกษตรกรกลุ่มสหกรณ์เกษตรอินทรีย์ท่งมั่ง มาจากองค์ประกอบ ดังนี้ 1) ผลประโยชน์ทางเศรษฐกิจ 2) ความรู้เกี่ยวกับการทำเกษตรอินทรีย์ 3) การได้รับข้อมูลข่าวสาร 4) ทัศนคติของเกษตรกร 5) ความพร้อมในการทำเกษตรอินทรีย์ 6) กระบวนการทำเกษตรอินทรีย์ของเกษตรกร และด้านความสำเร็จในการดำเนินงานของกลุ่มจากองค์ประกอบเสริมของผู้นำและหน่วยงานรัฐที่สนับสนุน ได้แก่ ภาวะความเป็นผู้นำของคณะกรรมการกลุ่ม การมีส่วนร่วมของกลุ่ม การบริหารจัดการกลุ่ม ความพร้อมในการทำเกษตรอินทรีย์ การได้รับการสนับสนุนจากหน่วยงานภาครัฐและเอกชน เป็นกลไกสำคัญที่ทำให้กลุ่มประสบความสำเร็จ สำหรับข้อเสนอแนะของเกษตรกร ได้แก่ การสนับสนุนให้การช่วยเหลือในด้านแหล่งทุนเพื่อสร้างโรงเรือน จัดฝึกอบรมพัฒนาในด้านการป้องกันศัตรูพืชและโรคพืช การวางแผนผลิต การตลาด และการแปรรูป การใช้เทคโนโลยีสมัยใหม่ เพื่อพัฒนาการผลิตผักอินทรีย์ให้ดียิ่งขึ้น
